Our history
 Oriental Institute of Technology traces its roots back to 1968, when the Oriental Academy of Industrial Technology was established. Mr. Yu-Ziang Hsu, the founder of Far Eastern Textile Group, aimed to meet the need of the economic growth nationwide, presented his version of a school based on the spirit of “Broaden Knowledge, Appreciate Virtue, Cultivate Talents, and Prosper Nation”. It is recognized as the nation’s first private two-year academy.
In 1973 the academy was renamed the Oriental Academy of Industry comprised four departments – Textile, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Computer.
By 1989 with its steadily increasing number of classes and students, the academy hold seven departments – Textile, Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Apparel, Industrial Design and Industrial Engineering and Management.
In 2000 the academy was officially restructured to become the Oriental Institute of Technology under the authority of the Ministry of Education with the establishment and admission opened of its two-year college. One year later, the four-year college also began to enroll students.
In 2003 OIT earned the right to award its own degree and set up the graduate school of Information and Communication Engineering not only to cultivate professional talents in high technology research and application but also to promote higher vocational education.
Our Principle
 It has been more than 30 years since the school was first founded. The successive principals inherit the spirits of the school founder and spare no effort to manage the great task by means of the excellent school motto “Sincerity, Diligence, Thrift, and Prudence”. The Oriental Institute of Technology also adheres to the principle of “Creativity, Consideration, Communication and Cooperation” in anticipation of transforming the school into an Industrial application school that integrates both technology and culture, innovation and quality, profession and common knowledge, theory and practice as well as a superb institute that is systematically, diversely, knowledgeably, and scientifically developed.

Our teaching is first-rate and is supported by our world-class applied research. Our students are benefit from a tailored approach that helps them to get the most from their studies. Currently, we integrate the existing 12 departments to from 4 schools, Electrical and Communicating, Engineering, Management, and Medical Science. We offer top quality teaching and learning facilities and the ability to learn flexibly in a way that best suits their needs.
Heritage and Innovation
Led by the founder, Y. Z. Hsu, and under the leadership of the current president of the Oriental Institute of Technology as well as the president of the Far- Eastern enterprise, the Oriental Institute of Technology has been progressing remarkably. This successful accomplishment, additionally, resulted from the efforts of all school staff and support of the related companies of the Far-Eastern Group.
